Rare T206 Plank and ‘Magie’ Error Cards Highlight PWCC December Premier Auction

In the world of sports memorabilia, few items generate as much excitement as rare baseball cards. The PWCC December Premier Auction is no exception, offering collectors a chance to own some of the most coveted cards from the T206 set, known as the Big Four.

One of the standout items in this auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. With only 39 cards receiving a grade from SGC and an additional 21 graded by PSA, the Plank card is a true rarity. Despite its age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the value and significance of the Plank card remain undisputed. This auction marks the fourth time this year that a Plank card has been available for purchase, with previous sales reaching impressive prices, such as $75,000 for an SGC 1 Plank card in February and $168,000 for a PSA 2.5 variant in August.

Another highly sought-after card in the auction is the PSA 2 graded Sherry “Magie” error card, also from the T206 set. This card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee’s last name and is considered one of the most renowned rarities in the collection, alongside the T206 Honus Wagner and ‘NY Nat’l’ Joe Doyle cards.

While the T206 cards steal the spotlight, the auction also offers an impressive array of Michael Jordan cards, showcasing the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Among the highlights are the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals card (numbered out of 50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies card (numbered out of 50) graded PSA 8, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future card (numbered out of 72) graded PSA 9, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC card in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades.

In addition to the baseball and basketball collectibles, the auction features modern hockey treasures. Two notable cards in this category are the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid Rookie Patch Autograph card (numbered out of 12) and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby Rookie Patch Autograph card (numbered out of 99), both graded BGS 8.

The PWCC December Premier Auction is already underway and will continue accepting bids until December 21st. This presents a rare opportunity for collectors around the world to own a piece of sports history. Whether you’re a fan of baseball, basketball, or hockey, this auction offers an array of highly collectible items that are sure to ignite bidding wars among enthusiasts and collectors alike. Don’t miss your chance to own these extraordinary pieces of memorabilia.
