Parlay at Graybo’s: Sports Bar Meets Card Shop Sensation

Richmond, Virginia, has welcomed an innovative and exciting destination for sports enthusiasts and collectors with the introduction of Parlay at Graybo’s. Situated in the bustling Scott’s Addition neighborhood, this unique establishment combines the social vibes of a sports bar with the interactive allure of a sports card shop, creating the perfect setting for a memorable fan experience.

Conceived by Duke Dodson, Ryan Fitz, and Gray “Graybo” Burnette, Parlay at Graybo’s aims to offer a communal space where guests can revel in the excitement of opening new card packs, engaging in live card breaks, and catching up on sporting events on large screens, all while indulging in delectable meals and drinks. The venue kicked off its grand opening festivities on May 18 with a special event that included watching the Preakness Stakes, accompanied by live music and unique activities to entertain the guests.

Occupying the space previously held by the Circuit Arcade Bar at 3117 W. Leigh Street, Parlay at Graybo’s seamlessly connects the sports bar and card shop through a breezeway adorned with a miniature putting green, elevating the interactive and immersive nature of the venue.

The brains behind Parlay at Graybo’s bring a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted passion for the sports card industry to the table: Duke Dodson, a long-time card collector and prominent figure in the Richmond real estate scene; Gray Burnette, a history buff turned entrepreneur following his transition from the educational sector; and Ryan Fitz, with a background in property management and technology, focusing on enhancing customer experiences and modernizing business operations.

Driven by their shared nostalgia for collecting cards in their youth and a vision to create a venue that caters to both kids and adults, the trio transformed a modest sports card shop into an expansive, dynamic space. With the sports bar spanning 3,300 square feet and the card shop expanding to 2,200 square feet, Parlay at Graybo’s is poised to attract a significant increase in foot traffic, leveraging its prime location in an entertainment hub.

One of the standout features at Parlay at Graybo’s is the opportunity for patrons to engage in or spectate live card breaks from the bar, injecting an element of thrill reminiscent of game days. The founders have also cultivated a vibrant collector community through their eBay store, a weekly podcast, and online live breaks, fostering engagement with collectors locally and beyond.

Noting the vibrant collector base in the Richmond area, Ryan Fitz highlighted the inclusivity of Parlay at Graybo’s, catering to rookies, seasoned collectors, and investors alike. The transition from the former venue, Circuit, presented a strategic opportunity for Dodson, who seized the moment by acquiring the property shortly before its closure.

This innovative blend of a sports bar and card shop sets Parlay at Graybo’s apart as a trailblazer in the region, offering a one-of-a-kind, electrifying ambiance that is sure to attract sports aficionados and card enthusiasts alike, promising an unmatched and immersive experience for all who step through its doors.
